Mulch and Rubber Calculator

Calculate Mulch Volume and Bag Requirement

Formulas

For square or rectangular surfaces:

\[ \text{Volume} = L \times W \times D \]

Where:

To calculate the number of bags needed:

\[ \text{Bags Needed} = \frac{\text{Volume}}{\text{Bag Size}} \]

Definition

The volume of mulch or rubber required is calculated based on the shape of the area (square/rectangle), the dimensions, and the depth (converted from inches to feet). The total number of bags needed is then determined by dividing the volume by the selected bag size.

Example Calculation

Let's assume the following values for a rectangular area:

Using the formula:

\[ \text{Volume} = 10 \times 5 \times \left(\frac{24}{12}\right) = 100 \text{ cubic feet} \]

Calculating the number of bags needed:

\[ \text{Bags Needed} = \frac{100}{0.8} = 125 \text{ bags} \]

The number of bags needed is 125.
